Answer 1

Police can be effective

• Work in the community to prevent crime, keep the public safe and try to combat anti social behaviour
• Specalist units trained to deal with issues such as terrorism or incidents involving weapons
• Quick response time to major crimes such 2017 London bridge attack

Police are less effective

• Statistics show in 2017 crime had increased by 10% the largest annual raise which suggests the police are becoming less effective at tackling crime
• Racism following the murder of stephen lawrence which questions their effectiveness
• Slow response times to minor crimes such as theft which motivates the criminal to commit more minor thefts
• Fail to report crimes that are reported to them

CPS Can be effective
- As it brings a indepedent element to charging and prosecution of offences, seperate from the police but works with them to bring social control

cps is not effective

• Funding problems
• Too close to the police
• And previous cases such as lord janners escape of serious sexual abuse on boys becuase of cps failing of producing a strong case
