What does the crime control model want the CJS to be?
Quick and efficient, like a conveyor belt
What does the crime control model say the goal of crime control is?
To suppress crime.
What does the crime control model start with?
Presumptious guilt - guilty until proven innocent
What does the crime control model belive police shouldnt deal with?
Technicalities that block their investigations
What does the crime control model believe in relation to wrongful convictions?
Wrongful convictions are better then no convictions
What approach does the crime control model take?
Zero tolerance approach
What theory links to the crime control model?
Right realism - harsh punishment (deterrent)
What is the aim of the due process model?
To protect the accused from opression recieved from the state
What does the due process model believe in relation to guilt
Innocent until proven guilty
What does the due process model believe in relation to the police
They do not trust the police e.g incompetence
What rights is the due process model concerned with?
The rights of suspects e.g right to silence, right to legal advice
What does the due process model believe prosecuters should go through?
An obstacle course before they can secure a conviction
What does the due process model believe in relation to convictions?
Believe that guilty being free is better then innocent being in prison
