Absorbtion Of Lipids Flashcards

1
Q

How are lipids absorbed

A

-the bile salts emulsify lipids into micelles which are polar and soluble in water
-this means it can be transported to the lining of the illeum
-micelles release fatty acids and monoglycerides into the cell and is absorbed by diffusion because its non polar
-It then gets reformed in the SER
-it binds with a protein in golgi body making chylomicrons
-which are then packed into vesicles and bud off to be transported in the lacteal
