what is a periapical granuloma?
cyst formation
doesn’t just contain pus
what is a combined abscess?
infection from necrotic bacteria in canals moves through accessory canals to infect perio pocket.

what is tx for combined abcess?
if not XLA,
RSD + RCT
what is a gingival abscess?
only in outer layers of gingiva
caused by trauma or infection within gingival sulcus
trapped food or tb trauma
what is pericoronitis?
infection of the gingiva covering part of an erupting tooth
operculum
what is primary herpetic gingivostomatitis?
caused by herpes simplex virus: acute inflammation in the mouth vesicles ulcers malaise common in children
where does the virus remain dormant>
trigeminal ganglion
what triggers virus to re activate?
UV light

immunocompramised
what does the virus present as when it becoe re active?
recurrent oral herpes
what are mucocutaneous disorders?
lichen planus pemphigoid pemphigoid vulgaris erythema multiforme lupus
