reliving a severely traumatic event in reccuring dreams and memories.
Panic dissorder
Reccuring episodes of intense dread in which a person experiences extreme terror and accompying chest pain, chocking etc.
Generalized Anxiety Disorder
Consistant and excessive wory about almost everything.
Phobias
Presistent, irrational fear, and avoidance of a specific object.
social phobia
the irrational fear of most social situations
agoraphobia
After experiencing panic attacks they learn to fear the fear.
OCD
Presistent unwanted thoughts(obbsesions) cause one to feel the need(cumpulsions) to engage in a particular action.
Conversion reaction
Person experiences very real physical symptoms with no real cause
Hypocondriasis reaction
a person interprets normal physical sensations as symptoms of disease.
Treatments for phobias
Exposure therapy, Systematic desensitization, mindfulness training.

disturbences of emotion.
Major depressive disorder
presistentaly depressed mood or loss of intrest in activities.

Delusion, hallucinations, disorganized speech, incoherant thoughts, innapropriate emotion
Paranoid schizophrenia
Auditory delusions and hallucinations such as thought of being persecuted by others
Disorganized schizophrenia
Bizzare ideas often about ones body, confused speech, childish behavior, great emotional swings, neglect of personal hygiene.
Catatonic schizophrenia
periods of wild exitment or rigid prolonged immobility (assumes same frozen pose for hours on end)

delusions, hallucinations. behavior that is addition to bahavior
negative schizophrenia
loss of behavior. innapropriate emotion/behavior
biological cause of schizophrenia
too much dopamine, too little seretonin. imbalance in brain chemicals
genetic cause of schizophrenia
the more close you are genetically with someone schizophrenic the more likely you are to get it (twin,parent ,sibling etc.)
treatments for schizophrenia
Antipsychotic drugs: stops dopamine from being absorbed by the dendrites, clears thoughts.
side affects:facial tics(Tardive dyskenisia), limited mobility in the body
DID
exhibiting two or more distinct and altering personalities
fugue
a state or period of loss of awareness of ones identity
amnesia
loss of ones memoreies, facts or peices of information of experiences
tollerance
the ability to endure something
Addiction
a habit of doing something over again many times(usually not good for you)
psychological dependence
emotional components of drug abuse (difficulty thinging of anything else)
physiological dependents
the physical components of drug abuse (withdrawls, loss of sleep, shaking)
