ABG Flashcards
Ph
7:35 - 7.45
CO2
35-45
HCO3
22-26
PaO2
80-100
SaO2
> 95%
Minute volume =
Tidal volume (vt) x respiratory rate (F)
PO2
40,50,60
70%, 80%,90%
Respiratory or acidotic
If CO2 follows follows ph = respiratory
If HCO3 follows ph = metabolic
Partially compensated
If the ph is outside of normal values and both respatory and metabolic are outside of normal values
Fully compensated
Ph inside normal values and both respiratory and metabolic are outside normal
Critical ABG for intubation
Ph<7.2
PCo2= 55
PO2< 60
Ph and ETCO2 relationship
For every 10 change in ETCO2 = ph .08 in opposite direction
Ph and HCO3 relationship
For every .15 change in ph = HCO3 to change 10 in same direction
Ph and potassium relationship
For every .10 change in ph = .6 change of K in opposite direction
CO2 and K relationship
For every .10 change in CO2 = K will change .5 in same direction
