Abdominal Structures Flashcards
External Oblique distal attachment
linea alba, pubic tubercle and anterior half of ill. crest.
External Oblique proximal attachment
external surfaces of 5th-12th ribs
External Oblique innervation
thoracoabdominal nerves (T7-T11 spinal nerves) and subcostal nerve
External Oblique action
compression and support of viscera, flexion and rotation of trunk
Internal Oblique proximal attachment
Thoracolumbar fascia, ant. 2/3 of ill crest, and connective tissue deep to lateral 1/3 of inguinal ligament.
Internal Oblique distal attachment
inferior borders of 10th-12th ribs, linea alba, pecten pubis via the conjoint tendon
Internal Oblique innervation
Thoracoabdominal nerve (ant rami of T6-T12) and 1st lumbar nerve
Internal Oblique action
compression and support of viscera, flexion and rotation of trunk
Rectus Abdominis proximal attachment
Pubic symphysis and pubic crest
Rectus Abdominis distal attachment
xiphoid process and 5th-7th costal cartilages
Rectus Abdominis innervation
Thoracoabdominal nerves (ant rami of T6-T12 spinal nerves)
Rectus Abdominis action
flexes trunk, compression of the abdomen, and stability of the pelvis
Transverse Abdominis proximal attachment
internal surfaces of 7th-12th costal cartilages, thoracolumbar fascia, illiac crest and connective tissue deep to lat. 1/3 of inguinal ligament.
Transverse Abdominis distal attachment
Linea alba and apneurosis of internal oblique, pubic crest, and pecten pubis via conjoint tendon
Transverse abdominis innervation
Thoracoabdominal nerves (ant rami of T6-T12) and 1st Lumbar nerve
Transverse Abdominis action
compression and support of viscera
QL proximal attachment
Medial portion of 12th rib; tips of lumbar trans. processes
QL distal attachment
Iliolumbar ligament, internal lips of iliac crest
QL innervation
Anterior rami of T12, L1-L4
QL action
Lateral flex of trunk, flex 12th rib during inspiration.
