When assessing a patient with a suspected surgical problem what must you ensure?
That the nurses know she/he is to be kept NBM

Liver, spleen, bladder, shifting dullness
Areas to ausculate in abdo exam?
Bowel sounds, abdominal aorta for bruit, 2.5cm and lateral to the umbilicus for bruit of renal artery stenosis
Difference between prostate enlargment in BPH and carcinoma?
In BPH, smoothly enlarged with a palpable midline groove; in cancer, irregularly enlarged and midline groove may no longer be palpable
