- Transverse colon
LUQ palpable organs
-Tip of the spleen in a small percentage of adults

- Colon (palpable firm, narrow)
- Bladder
- L ovary
Organs of the RLQ
- Appendix
- Bowel loops
- Cecum
- Right ovary
Palpable organs of the RLQ
None in healthy adults
Visceral pain
Vauge, poorly localized. Usually organ distension/stretch and ischemia. Gnawing, burning, cramping, aching.
Pelvic Cavity
Terminal ureters, bladder, pelvic genital organs, and, at times, loops of small and large intestine. These organs
are partially protected by the surrounding pelvis.
Positioning the patient for abdominal exam
Supine, head on a single pillow.
Obesity can cause fatty infiltration of the liver
Non-alcoholic steatohepatits and results in abnormal liver function tests.

Inspection, auscultation, percussion, palpation
