ENT
Ears, Nose, Throat
ENT specialists treat hearing, swallowing and speech, breathing and sleep issues, allergies and sinuses, head and neck, skin disorders and more.
HEENT
Head, Eyes, Ears, Nose, Throat
If someone is experiencing symptoms that affect those areas such as sneezing, congestion and a sore throat they will likely receive a HEENT examination.
VA
Visual Acuity
Clarity of vision.
Measure of the ability of the eye to distinguish shapes and the details of objects at a given distance.
Important to assess VA to detect changes in vision.
VF
Visual Field
Portion of space in which objects are visible at the same moment during steady fixation of gaze in one direction.
REM
Rapid Eye Movement
Rapid eye movement sleep is on of the four stages the brain moves through while sleeping.
The eyes move rapidly in various direction and dreams can occur.
PERRLA
Pupils Equal Round Reactive to Light and Accommodation
A test to check if the pupils look and function as they should.
