“Detente” was the word given to the attempts to de-escalate global nuclear tensions, by removing nuclear weapons from the USA and USSR
Why did “detente” end?
Detente ended because the Soviet Union invaded Afghanistan in 1979, showing they did not wish to end conflict.
What were the Olympic boycotts?

Glasnot was a policy introduced in the 1960s by Gorbachev to allow openness, freedom of speech, and political discussion.

Gorbachev’s plan to change how the Soviet Union worked by fixing the strict economy and giving people more freedom.
