Why was there a revolution in Cuba in 1969?

A

The majority of Cubans lived in poverty. They became fed up with wealthy American businessmen in the capital having all the money. So in 1969, Fidel Castro, a communist, rose to power in the Cuban revolution.

  • The Bay of Pigs invasion was launched by the USA to overthrow Castro because it posed a threat to the United States. Cuban exile forces were trained and organized and in 1961, they invaded.
