Food is a source of energy that provides the raw materials our bodies require to grow + repair themselves. For example, our bones require calcium to get strong.
What are the components of a balanced diet? There are 7.
Protein, carbohydrates, fats, fibre, water, vitamins, minerals
(+sugar, nutrients)
Give an example of a food(s) that provides protein.
Eggs, meat, fish, nuts
Give an example of a food(s) that provides carbohydrates.
Potatoes, rice, pasta, bread

How does fibre help bodily functions?
Fibre aids peristalsis (muscular contractions of the bowel to move its contents through)
