Well-controlled DM, HTN, mild lung dse
ASA III
Px with severe systemic disease Poorly controlled DM or HTN COPD Morbidly obese Active hepatitis, alcohol dependence /abuse > 3 months history of MI, CVA, TIA, CAD, and stents ESRD with regular dialysis Implanted pacemaker Moderate reduction of EF Premature infant PC < 60 weeks (?)
ASA IV
Px with severe systemic disease that’s a constant threat to life
Recent (<3 months) MI, CVA, TIA, CAD, or stents
Ongiong ischemia or severe valve dysfunctions
Severe reduction of EF
Sepsis, DIC
Acute renal failure / ESRD w/o regular dialysis
Severe COPD, sever CHF, severe DM/DKA/end-organ damage
ASA V
A moribund patient who is not expected to survive w/o operation
Ruptured aneurysm
Massive trauma
Intracranial bleed with mass effect
Ischemic bowel in the face of significant cardiac pathology or multiple organ, or systemic dysfunctions
[sysmptomatic sepsis]
ASA VI
Brain-dead patient whose organs are being removed for donor purposes
ESRD w/o regular dialysis
ASA IV
Ruptured aneurysm
