Advantages and disadvantages of group responsibility.
Advantages:
People fee they are solely responsible, so take extra care in their work.
Disadvantages:
Diffusion of responsibility.
What is meant by social loathing.
The tendency for some individuals to to work less hard on a task when they believe others are working on it. In other words they consider that their own effects will be pooled with that of the other group members.
What I meant by group polarisation
Leads to a riskier course of action.
Groups make decisions that are more extreme then the individual members initial positions.
What is meant by inter group conflict.
When a small group acts cohesively as a team but rivalries can arrive between different teams.
Advantages and disadvantages of working in a team.
Advantages:
- An opportunity to share resources
- A chance to discuss problems and work towards solutions
- a chance to check each others work
Disadvantages:
Need proper leadership
Important elements of team working.
Communication
Co-operation
Co-ordination
Mutual support
What does a good leader need to do?
- motivate the team
- lead by example
- Maintain the group
- fulfil a management role
- reinforce good attitudes and behaviour

A person is motivated if they take action.
