explain research in supplier process
Research - this stage is where potential suppliers are gathered and their capabilities are assessed. This is done to make sure they can meet the buyers requirements to fulfil the project. This benefits the project as it can make sure specialist personal can be resourced to complete the project. This benefits the deployment phase to make sure there are no shortfalls when the suppliers comes to deliver the project. The PM will be responsible for reassessing whether the suppliers have the relevant capabilities during the concept phase of the project lifecycle.
explain tender in supplier process
Tender - this stage is where selected suppliers are asked to provide a full bid for the project. This done against a defined set of requirements. This is done in order to determine whether the supplier understand the scope and can deliver the project in line with the scope set out in the Business case. By understanding how the supplier can meet the requirements, the sponsor can gain confidence in their ability to achieve the projects objectives. It also enables the supplier to compare different suppliers understandings and cross reference if there are any scope gaps in tenders. This is completed by the PM with go no go decision making make from the project sponsor. This is conducted in the definition phase ready for the deployment phase.
