9: Innominates Flashcards
Three parts of the innominate bone
Ilium, pubis, ischium
Four anterior bony landmarks
Iliac crest, ASIS, pubic tubercles, medial malleolus
Three posterior bony landmarks
PSIS, sacral base, inferior lateral angles
Ring of seven joints in the pelvis
2 lumbosacral joints + 2 sacroiliac joints + 2 femoroacetabular joints + 1 pubic symphysis
Five major pelvic ligaments
Iliolumbar, anterior sacroiliac, posterior sacroiliac, sacrospinous, sacrotuberous
Hip flexors vs extensors
Hip flexors: iliopsoas, rectus femoris
Hip extensors: glut max, hamstrings
Three hip abductors
glut med, glut min, TFL (?)
One hip external rotator
Piriformis
What % of all MSK chronic low back pain is from the sacroiliac joint?
15-25%
Four steps for assessing innominates for somatic dysfunction
- Palpate for TART
- Lateralis action tests
- Palpate anterior and posterior bony landmarks
- Come up with the diagnosis for SD
Two lateralization tests
- ASIS compression test
2. Standing flexion test
What is a positive ASIS compression test?
Hard end feel/restriction on one side -> thats the side with SD
Positive standing flexion test
Whichever PSIS moves more superior -> side with SD
