Stabilised approach criteria?
- Flight Path
a. Instrument APP: By FAF/FAP/ATC vector alt, established laterally and vertically on the published profile, with correct AP/FD modes engaged.
b. Visual APP: By 1000’AAL, established vertically on the published profile (if no published profile, less than full scale deflection on PAPI/VASIS). By 300’AAL, wings level and established on extended centerline.
- Config and Energy Mgmt
a. Configured (Flaps set, Gear down n locked, Spd brk retracted n armed)
b. Landing checklist complete
c. Speed stabilized at Vapp (By 500’AAL)
d. Thrust set to maintain Vapp
Missed Approach Criteria?
- Stabilized APP criteria not met.
- RVR/VIS or minimum visual reference of the APP in use not achieved.
- Loss of visual reference
- Loss of situational awareness under MSA
- Outcome of APP/maneuver not ensured.
- Commander/PIC announces G/A
Required Visual Reference?
If by DA/Derived DA, APP cannot be continued purely by visual reference, have to G/A.
Visual Reference Definition
a. If approach lights avail, 5 rows of rwy app/rwy lights AND one row crossbar lights visible.
b. If no approach lights, rwy threshold and touchdown zone visible.

Ceiling 300’
Holding speed and outbound leg time? (ICAO PANS OPS 3/4/5)
Up to 14000’ - 230kts
14001’ to 20000’ - 240kts
20001’ to 34000’ - 265kts
34000’ above - M0.83
At or below 14000’ - 1 min
Above 14000’ - 1.5 min
