AEGIS multi-purpose ships (Small Boys) with AW as a primary mission area, capable of providing area and point defense
High Value Units (HVU)
Ships with significance importance (Big Deck) have limited Air Defense
Shotgun
ADU assigned to provide point defense of a HVU to provide quick reaction against threats
Defense Counter-Air Aircraft (ACU)
US or friendly aircraft employed to provide airborne firepower to the Strike Group
F/A-18E/F Super Hornet or F-35 Lightning
Air Control Unit (ACU)
Unit exercising TACON of aircraft, with facilities and controllers for air
Airborne Early Warning (AEW)
Units: E-2D Hawkeye
Vital Area (VA)
Designated area or installation to be defended by ADUs.
Engage threats prior to them entering the VA
Classification Identification Engagement Area (CIEA)
Area surrounding the VA, in which all contacts must be classified, identified, monitored, and if necessary - escorted, covered, or engaged.
Surveillance Area (SA)
Battlespace under systematic observation of sensors to detect a vessel of possile military concern
