8. Two-Source Interface Flashcards
What is Two-source Interference?
Two-source interference is when the waves from two sources interfere to produce a pattern.
How do you get a clear interference pattern from two-source interference?
To get a clear interference pattern from two-source interference, the waves from the two sources must be monochromatic and coherent.
At what points would you get constructive interference from two-source interference?
You would get constructive interference from two-source interference when the path difference is a whole number of wavelengths or at an equal distance from the two sources.
At what points would you get Destructive interference from two-source interference?
You would get destructive interference when the path difference is half a wavelength, one and a half wavelengths, two and a half wavelengths, etc…
What are the points of constructive interference called?
Maxima
What are the points of destructive interference called?
Minima
