What is LOC
A
- Rotter defined both Internal loc and external loc
- internal loc, believe that most things that happen are within control, external loc, out of their control things happen by chance
- Scale to Loc
- Internal Loc, more likely to resist pressure to conform, greater resistance to SI

A
- Holland repeated milgram’s study, whether ps were internal or external
- 37% of internals did not continue, compared to the 23% of externals
- increasing validity of loc
7
Q
EV - Not all research supports Loc
A
- Psychologist analysed data from American Loc studies over 40 years
- People had become more independent but with this also more external
- surprising finding as we would expect people to become more internal with independence
- not a valid explanation to resistance of social roles
