A
- Due to the cold war the tensions between the nations increased as the soviets were trying to exploit China for resources.
- Sino-soviet friendship treaty 1945 – pros for Mao = regained Manchuria and had economic assistance from soviet experts, cons for Mao = loan/aid package was to be repaid with interest of natural resources, USSR kept Mongolia, soviet advisors had diplomatic immunity

- 1950 it was PLA forces entered and declared it had been liberated
- It became an ‘autonomous region’ with the PRC + Dalai Lama governing it
- Land reform was put in place to modernise Tibet and bring it electricity.

- Was previously divided at the 38th parallel (equal)
- North Korea invaded and forced the south back to Pusan (south coast)
- With the help of the UN blue helmets south Korea forced NK back to the Manchuria border where China got involved with the battle of attrition at the 38th parallel
