Under Soviet and USA influence Mao and Jaing agreed to meet in Chongqing. An agreement was reached and said – democratic political system, personal freedoms, release of political prisoners, and united army, elections. Almost immediately after the agreements were met the fighting intensified with neither side willing to give up territory.
