Q

What do you know about the Australian vaccination program?

A
  • Recommended vaccines are spoken about very soon after the child is born and parents are given approximate dates when injections and boosters need to be given
  • The child care support and maternity allowance are dependant on children having up to date vaccinations and if a parent chooses not to have her child vaccinated, they must sign an objection form that is signed by the GP

Q

What are some of the issues with taking away welfare money?

A
  • If you remove welfare money, then there is less incentive for parents to have their child vaccinated on time since the child care support/maternity allowance are dependent on this
  • If we take away welfare money from those who decide not to have their child vaccinated, then this may affect the child and the mother’s lives (spoke about a number of ways this had an impact)
