7.7 Projectile motion 1 Flashcards
What is a projectile?
» An object acted upon only by the force of grabity
What is a projectile?
» An object acted upon only by the force of grabity
What is the 3 key principles that apply to all projectiles?
» Acceleration of the object is always equal to g in its vertical component
» Horizontal velocity is constant as acceleration is 0
» Motion in the horizontal and vertical directions are indepedent of each other
What path does an object thrown of a certain height follow?
» A curved path downwards before it hits the surface
What does it mean if the horizontal speed is increased?
» The further away it will land
What does a stroboscope do?
» Used to record the motion of a projectile
What does a stroboscope do?
» Used to record the motion of a projectile
What is the horizontal component of the displacement?
» Displacement = Speed x time
Why does the vertical component have no inital velocity?
» Because it has no vertical component of its initial velocity
What is the final speed?
» Vertical + horizontal
