Q

Define and defend “effectual call”.

(What is effectual calling?)

A

(WSC 31) Effectual calling is the work of God’s Spirit, whereby, convincing us of our sin and misery, enlightening our minds in the knowledge of Christ, and renewing our wills, he doth persuade and enable us to embrace Jesus Christ, freely offered to us in the gospel.

John 6:44
No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him. And I will raise him up on the last day.

Q

What about those who never had the chance to hear about Jesus or are devout Muslims, Buddhist, etc.?

A

Ignorance of the Law won’t condemn a person, but sin will.

Devout as they are they will go to hell unless they repent and turn to Christ.
