What happens to believers at death?
Their bodies enter into a state of corruption and decomposition, while their souls are present with the Lord in glory.
Luke 23:43
“And he said to him, “Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in paradise.”
What happens to unbelievers at death?
Their souls are cast into eternal torment in hell.
Luke 16:23
“…and in Hades, being in torment, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham far off and Lazarus at his side.”
Who will be raised on the last day?
All the dead will be raised up to give an account before the Lord.
Who will be judged at the last day?
Apostate angels and all people who have ever lived on earth.
Heb 9:27
“And just as it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment,”
By whom will they be judged?
By Jesus Christ.
Acts 17:31
“because he has fixed a day on which he will judge the world in righteousness by a man whom he has appointed; and of this he has given assurance to all by raising him from the dead.”
Will any receive a second chance?
No
What practical use is the doctrine of the final judgment?
To deter all men from sin and for the consolation of the godly.
2 Cor 5:10
“For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may receive what is due for what he has done in the body, whether good or evil.”
When will Christ return?
No one knows the day or the hour, but the Father.
Matt 24:36
“But concerning that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father only.”
What will heaven be like?
Is there a hell?
A perfect physical place. With many mansions. With glorified bodies free from sin for all eternity.
Yes. The Bible describes it as a physical place of torment; furnace, lake of fire, prison, abyss.
Matt 13:42
“and throw them into the fiery furnace. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”
What is annihilationism?
The false belief that the wicked will be annihilated at the final judgment. But Scripture speaks of an eternal punishment instead.
What is your view of the millennium?
