In determining if risk of collision exists, the following considerations shall be among those taken into account:

A
  1. Risk exists if the compass bearing of an approaching vessel does not appreciably change
    - Constant Bearing, Decreasing Range
  2. Risk may exist even if appreciable bearing is evident, particularly when approaching a very large vessel or tow at close range

Bearing Drift

A

Bearing Drift is determined by how it looks to YOU

i.e. if you see a vessel drifting left, it is Left Bearing Drift
