A spreading erythematous area with no distinct borders

What is the most common causative organism of Cellulitis?
A
- Streptococcal Pyogenes (common)
- Staphylococcal Aureus (uncommon)
- H. Influenzae (rare)
- Other (Rare)

What are the symptoms of Cellulitis?
A
- Erythematous Area with no distinct borders
- Fever is common
- Regional Lymphadenopathy
- Regional Lymphangitis
- Possible source of Bacteraemia

What should be looked for in Cellulitis?
A
- Predisposing Factors:
- a) Diabetes Mellitus
- b) Tinea Pedis
- c) Lymphoedema
- Lymphangitis
- Lymphadenitis

What is the treatment of Cellulitis?
A
A combination of anti-staphylococcal and anti-streptococcal antibiotics
Note - in extensive disease, admission of I.V. antibiotics and rest may be needed
