Where did Roman power spread and what happened to the Jews
It spread to Judea, then rome took over the Jewish kingdom and made it a province of the empire. Jews believed a savior would free them.

How did Jesus die and why
Because his popularity concerned roman leaders. When he visited Jerusalem crowd greeted him as the King. Roman governor pontius pilate accused Jesus of defying authority over Rome and arrested him and crucified him.
Explain Paul’s mission
An apostle paul had enormous influence on christianity’s development.
He never met Jesus and was at first an enemy of Christianity. He had a vision of Christ. Spent rest of life spreading Jesus’ teachings

Why did persecution of Christians occur?
Because christians refused to worship Roman gods.

Constantine accepts christianity because he prayed for help and saw a vision of the cross he then put the symbol of the cross on shields and won the battle.

Bishop: who was also a priest supervised local churches.
Pope: the father or head of the christian church.

An apostle who travelled to Rome and became the first bishop. Referred to as rock on which the christian church would be built was the first pope.

Taught humans needed the grace of God to be saved. Said people could not recieve gods grace if they did not belong to church and received sacraments.
