Q

how does transportation influence the growth of cities

A

Borchert’s Epochs of Transportation: depending on the type of transportation available at the time, the growth of the city varied. Originally with just boats, the city grew along water and then only as far you could walk. The streetcar extended the city along street car routes, but then only as far as you could walk. Lastly, the car allows for the city to grow in all directions and distances, sprawl happens
