how does transportation influence the growth of cities
Borchert’s Epochs of Transportation: depending on the type of transportation available at the time, the growth of the city varied. Originally with just boats, the city grew along water and then only as far you could walk. The streetcar extended the city along street car routes, but then only as far as you could walk. Lastly, the car allows for the city to grow in all directions and distances, sprawl happens

as communication has gotten better, we do not have to be as close to each other, businesses, or stores. Zoom allows for remote work to happen today
how does population growth influence the growth of cities
as more people move to the city, more homes need to be added. This is happening quickly today in less developed countries (due to high natural increase rates and rural to urban migration). It is slowing in more developed countries.
how does migration (internal and international) influence the growth of cities
LDCs high rural to urban migration, MDCs high urban to suburban migration and international migration to these countries
how does economic development influence the growth of cities
higher service jobs are found in the city, so people move away from farms as a countries industrializes. Or in the US moving from the Rust Belt to the Sun Belt
how do government policies influence the growth of cities
tax incentives and government subsidies determine how a city grows out
