What constitutes evidence of survival?
- How the person passed to the Spirit World.
- Relationship to the sitter.
- Names the sitter can take.
- Something that’s recently happened to the sitter that the medium wouldn’t know about but proves that the Spirit was observing.
- Anything that the medium doesn’t know about but has to have come from the Spirit person as information that the sitter can take as long as the medium has no prior knowledge of it.
Define evidential mediumship in relation to PAS.
The primary objective of demonstrating mediumship is to identify a spirit communicator, with a body of information which identifies them beyond reasonable doubt, and who is known to the recipient. In addition, there should also be a meaningful communication that is relevant to the recipient’s current life situation.
What is the purpose of mediumship?
The purpose of mediumship is to give evidence of survival which gives substance to the teachings of Spiritualism. In addition, mediumship can bring comfort to the bereaved, bring upliftment to those receiving the personal communications and those receiving private sitting
When doing a demonstration of mediumship, what is not considered evidence and should NOT be given from the platform?
Talking about guides.
Never give information about impending deaths.
No giving any prophecy in any way.
No medical info or advice.
You don’t give anything unless it’s given to you, and even then, you have to be discerning.
How would you prepare for a service?
Need to arrive 15 minutes early so you’re on time, you need to attune so that you’re giving an address that resonates with the congregation, to use words that they all understand. Need to attune because we should be doing inspired speaking and by attuning with Spirit the words will come to you and when you do the demonstration you need to be attuned so you can represent the Spirit correctly. As well as doing the opening and closing prayer.
How do you know if you have the right sitter?
When the sitter gives you a Yes, check in with spirit and if there is a felt change in the energy, that is confirmation.
