6. Calculating GM when loading and discharging weights Flashcards
1
Q
How do you Calculate GM
A
You have to find the new KG and the new GM.
New KG = sum Σ of the moments / sum Σ of the weights
New GM = KM - KG
See example attached.
2
Q
Calculating GM when given Tank liquids and capacities to find weightt
A
Remember that if a tank volume is given rather than the weight of the liquid then the volume must be multiplied by the RD of the liquid to get the weight.
e.g. 8.5 m3 of diesel oil of RD 0.88
That is the volume of the DO. What is the weight?
Weight of Liquid = Volume x RD
= 8.5 x 0.88
= 7.48 tonnes
