- 1 hectare of outdoor range for every 2500 hens
- Continous acess during the day to open-air range, which must be mainly covered with vegetation
- Several popholes extending along the entire length of the building providing at least 2m of opening for every 1000 hens

- Relatively low risk of diesease and parasitism
- Better hygiene
- Smaller group size = more stable social hierarchy
-Lowers the risk of feather pecking, cannibalism and smothering
What are the main advantages of Enriched cages for poultry?
- Better hygiene
- Average use of preventative drugs is low
What are the main advantages of Non-cage system for poultry?
- Greater opportunity to express the full behavioural repertoire
