5.4.2.3 Soluble Salts Flashcards
1
Q
How can soluble salts be made?
A
- from acids
- reacting them with solid insoluble substances
2
Q
What are examples of solid insoluble substances?
A
- metals
- metal oxides
- hydroxides
- carbonates
3
Q
How do you produce a solution of the salt?
A
- solid is added to acid until no more reacts
- excess solid is filtered off
4
Q
What can happen to salt solutions to produce solid salts?
A
- evaporation of water and then the rest of the solution evaporates slowly
- this is called crystallisation
