-Already in a position of high judicial office (e.g. Lord Justice of Appeal)
-15 years experiences as an advocate in senior courts

A

-Must be a qualified solicitor or barrister and have at least 7 years of legal experience, or
-Be an existing High Court Judge

A

-Qualified as a barrister or solicitor and have 7 years experience
-District judges, recorders or tribunal judges are also eligible
-Usual role is a recorder and then promoted to circuit judge

A

-Barristers or solicitors with 7 years experience or a district judge for at least 2 years
-Can work in Crown Courts, County Courts and sometimes in a sub-division of the High Court
-(Before 1990 only barristers with 10 years legal experience)

-Barristers or solicitors with 7 years experience
-Usually become a recorder in training and then after 2-3 years you become a recorder
