What is the General Work for a solicitor?
-Once qualified, the majority of solicitors will work in private practice, but some can work for the CPS or in large businesses/ the government
-Some are general practitioners covering a variety of areas, others specialise in one aspect
What are the first 3 general tasks for solicitors?
-Advising clients on a wide range of matters
-Writing letters on the behalf of clients
-Drafting legal documents such as contracts
What are the second 3 general tasks for solicitors?
-Drawing up wills
-Dealing with conveyancing
-Instructing barristers
What does advocacy for solicitors involve?
-Some solicitors can advocate in court and present cases on the behalf of their client
-They will put across the main arguments of the case and question key witnesses
-They must complete a higher courts qualification to be able to do this
