Officers will record all contacts with citizens in the following circumstances:
- 467’s
- 468’s
- Calls for service involving citizen contact
- Detentions, investigations
- SITA
- Search Warrants
- K9 searches
- After an officer 401, ASAP
- Code 3
- Pursuits, primary and secondary officers
- Adversarial citizen contact
- Code 5 transport
- Discretion, as needed
If recording is to be retained, Officer will label the recording with the ________ _________ and 400 code
Event number
Body worn camera recordings will be categorized by one of the following:

- Felony arrests
- Misdemeanor arrests
- Misdemeanor citations
- Traffic citation with violation
- Misdemeanor DUI arrests
- Adverse citizen contact
- Use of force – no arrest
- Pursuit – no arrest
- OIS – deadly force
Officers will write “_________ _________ _________ _________” on the first line of all misdemeanor narratives
Body camera recording available
Citizens requesting to view BWC recordings will be referred to _________

After OIS, or other deadly force, involved personnel or any supervisor SHALL or SHALL NOT view the BWC recordings prior to FIT/CIRT/IAB viewing it.
Shall not
BWC will not record:
Private conversations between department members
Nonwork related conversations, areas of reasonable expectation of privacy, locker rooms, bathrooms
Major crime investigator briefings
Encounters with UCs or CIs
Department meetings/training classes

Officer may access BWC recordings for 3 reasons:
Preparing reports for accuracy
Preparing for court
Prior to providing a statement pursuant to internal investigation
Supervisor access to BWC recordings is allowed when:
Supervisory investigation into a portable use of force, except deadly force
Supervisory response to citizen wishing to file an SOC
During internal investigation forwarded from IAB to Bureau
To assist in appropriately addressing a clearly documented performance issue
All officers hired after this date are required to wear body cameras
July 1, 2013
