What is Cushing’s triad?
bradycardia, hypertension, and irregular breathing
Pt under general anesthesia develops muscle rigidity, sinus tachycardia, hyp[erthermia, and skin cyanosis and mottling. What happened?
malignant hyperthermia
What is the mainstay of tx for malignant hyperthermia?
dantrolene
What kind of a drug is dantrolene?
muscle relaxant
What is the tx for a non-strangulated, reducible umbilical hernia in an infant?
none, unless persists beyond 2 yo
What is the treatment for follicular thyroid cancer?
total thyroidectomy followed by radioactive iodine
Why is radioactive iodine used post-op in follicular carcinoma of the thyroid?
metastases will take up iodine once thyroid is gone
