emergent aspiration and drainage

unclear: reduce pressure on joint w/ braces, etc
What is the tx for slipped capital femoral epiphysis?
emergent surgical pinning
What can be done for most pediatric long-bone fractures that do not involve the epiphysis or growth plate?
closed reduction (if nec.) and casting
What must be done for a pediatric bone fracture that involves the epiphysis and growth plate?
open reduction and internal fixation
What is the typical symptom of black widow spider bite?
severe muscle cramps
What is the tx for black widow spider bite?
IV calcium gluconate and muscle relaxants
What causes a bite that is barely noticable at the time of the bite but causes a necrotic ulcer with a surounding halo of erythema?
brown recluse spider
What is the tx for brown recluse spider bite?
excision of damaged skin and skin graft several days later
What should be done for a solitary pulmonary nodule that has a benign appearance on chest x-ray?
serial CT scans
WHat should be done for a solitary pulmonary nodule that has an indeterminate or suspicious appearance on CXR?
biopsy or PET scan
