Why did you interpret the offer of a coffee as a bribe?

1. I was aware a coffee had been used as slang for a bribe previously.
2. It was the context of the situation where the interested party was asking what I could do for him in relation to the rent and planning and then he made a gesture with his hands.

I politely refused and explained I had a duty to my client to obtain the best rent, and that I have a duty to uphold the highest RICS standards to Act with Integrity and Act in a Way that Promotes Trust in the Profession
