What is FTP (File Transfer Protocol)?
Be familiar with FTP client software and an FTP
server, with regard to transferring files using
anonymous and non-anonymous access
Transferring files from a server to a computer. commonly used client server protocol for exchanging files over the Internet.
A user typically needs to log on to the FTP server, although some servers make some or all of their content available without login, also known as anonymous FTP.
What is HTTP (Hypertext Transfer Protocol) /
HTTPS (Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure) ?
Governs transfer of hypertext documents. used by the World Wide Web, defines how messages are formatted and transmitted
Web servers use HTTP (Hypertext Transfer Protocol) to serve the files that form Web pages to users, in response to their requests
What is SSH (Secure Shell)?
A network protocol that provides administrators with a secure way to access a remote computer
widely used by network administrators for managing systems and applications remotely, allowing them to log in to another computer over a network
an SSH client is used to make a TCP connection to a remote port for the purpose of sending commands to this port using application level protocols such as GET for HTTP, SMTP commands for sending email and POP3 for retrieving email
What is POP3 (Post Office Protocol (v3))?
POP3 - Incoming mail servers
Client/server protocol in which e-mail is received and held for you by your Internet server. Periodically, you (or your client e-mail receiver) check your mail-box on the server and download any mail
What is SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol)?
SMTP server - Outgoing mail server
TCP/IP protocol used in sending and receiving e-mail. uses SMTP for sending e-mail and either POP3 or IMAP for receiving e-mail
Explain what Bluetooth is and give an example of a task for which a laptop user might use Bluetooth .
