Advantages of green revolution

- shorter growing season
- farming incomes increased
- more varied diets
- Multiplier effect - local infrastructure upgraded, employment created
Disadvantages of Green revolution
high inputs of pesticides and fertilizers required
require more weed control
mechanisation has increased rural unemployment
farmers benefitted far more than majority on low incomes –> widening income gaps in rural communities
