4.2 Study Guide Flashcards
Which charges attract or repel?
Unlike charges attract eachother while like charges repel eachother.
What is the formula of Colombic Atraction?
F=k * Q1 * Q2 / r^2
How is force related to charge?
The amount of force is proportional to the value of charge.
How is the attraction for valence e- affected by the amount of protons in the nucleus?
As you move across the periods, you increase the value of atomic numbers which makes the nucleus more positive gives a stronger pull.
Pick which atom has a higher electronegativity and explain why.
The atom is elctrons becuase they are the best out of all the atoms that attract or cause any chemical reactions
Pick which atom has a stronger or weaker attraction for valence electrons and explain why.
Electrons decrease because of the increased radius there is less attraction of valence electron to the nucleus, so less attraction for more electrons.
