Q

Phagocytis process

A
  1. Phagocyte attracted by chemicals produced by pathogen
  2. Phagocytes recognises pathogens as non-self & binds to it
  3. Phagocyte engulfs the pathogen to form phagosome-lysosome moves towards phagosome & combine with it (hydrolysis)
  4. Phagocyte combines with lysosome - phagolysosome (hydrolysis)
  5. Enzymes from the lysosome digest & destroy the pathogen
Digested pathogen absorbed by phagocyte- antigens combine with MHC in the cytoplasm
  6. MHC/antigen complex is displayed on phagocyte membrane, making an APC
