41 - SOP, AIROPS, Course Rules Flashcards
Minimum weather criteria for NVG TACFORM (FRP)
1000’ / 3
All flights planning to conduct ___ _______ or flight in _________ shall have an aircrewman.
night automatic approaches/coupled hovers
IMC
Minimum crew requirements for tactical training events
HAC/L3, PQM, AW
Prior to every FRP-accomplished water wash, the HAC shall thoroughly brief the FRP on the following items prior to departing the aircraft
- Hung starter procedures (including starter CB locations)
- Rotor brake slippage (PCLs-off)
- No rotor arc entry/exit while engines are at idle
NVG TACFORM currency
IP and IAC shall have flown 1.0 of NVG TACFORM within the preceding 220 days.
The FRP shall also have flown 2.0 of night time within 60 days.
Maximum daily instructional flight time should be _______ if only one pilot or aircrewman is NATOPS qualified. This restriction is not applicable to ______ evolutions.
6.5 hours, DLQ evolutions
STAB AUTO MODE PBS not illuminated when AC power is applied
Stab lock pins shall be visually checked prior to flight
The _________ checklist shall be accomplished when transitioning from pad to runway operations or vice versa.
landing checklist
The automatic approach checklist shall be completed prior to what two things?
- Overwater hover
- Practice single engine failure training from a HOGE
Dipping operations within W-291 are limited to a maximum dome depth of ________ in accordance with C3F restrictions.
90 FT (160’ POCL)
Dipping operations in the IB Charlie dip area are authorized with a maximum dome depth of __________.
250 FT (320’ POCL)
Actual “dome wet” dipping operations are prohibited in which dip areas?
IB Alpha, Bravo, and Delta
Dome depth for the final dip of the cycle shall be equal to or greater than _____________.
the deepest depth in the cycle
Hung dome procedures - SOAR vs. W-291
If hung dome condition is encountered during a range event on SOAR, the crew should utilize the soft pad at KNUC (San Clemente), execute Sonar Cable Cut Procedure, and return to NASNI with the dome in the cabin.
If condition is encountered in W-291 dip area, the crew should return to NASNI, coordinate with squadron personnel, and plan to lower the dome into the soft soil directly S-SE of pad 12 before executing the Sonar Cable Cut Procedure.
During daylight hours, the __________ should be used to satisfy the “landing/taxi” light requirement per AIROPS to prevent excessive searchlight bulb replacement.
forward hover light
FCF procedures: Chocks shall be removed prior to conducting what 4 evolutions?
- Packing the struts
- Engine cross bleed starts
- Alternate tooth wear checks
- HIT checks on deck
The following are prohibited with less than a fully operable RADALT on both flight displays:
- Training flights at night
- Coupled hovers
- CAL/LZ landings
- Practice autos
Simulated EPs requiring the actual degradation of aircraft systems at night are prohibited with the following exceptions:
- Single-engine approaches and landings to a prepared surface with adequate overrun and underrun to allow for safe execution.
- Single-engine running landings
- Boost-off and failed SAS/AFCS
- Simulated lost ICS
- STAB auto mode failure
Which maneuvers require the APU to be started prior to execution?
- Practice autorotations
- Single engine to a spot
- HOGE single engine failures
Tower clearance is required for helicopters to cross RWY18 extended centerline within ____ DME.
3.0 DME
Course rules: Tower Transition
Arriving from the south, southeast, or via RWY 29:
1. Fly to sidestep or cross RWY 29 at short field arresting gear
2. Continue to fly parallel to the runway and overfly Taxiway Bravo 1.
3. Maintain 150’/50 KIAS. Do not overfly any aircraft on the ground.
4. When abeam the Control Tower, turn north to intercept Taxiway Mike, remain east of RWY 18 and, if applicable, cross RWY 18 at short field arresting gear for Pad 10.
Course Rules: Flying Club Transition
- Flown at or below 300’ AGL
- Departures take the white ball down the left side of the aircraft and overfly the road to the channel.
- At the channel, climb to 400’ and proceed outbound.
Course Rules: Strand Transition
- Transiting west —> cross at 200’ AGL
- Transiting east —> cross at 400’ AGL
Course Rules: Bay Departure/Arrival
Departure:
- Climb to 600’ AGL prior to the carrier piers
- Fly south-eastbound over the Bay, remaining overwater
- Cross the Coronado Bridge at 600’ AGL
- Eastbound - initiate via Point Charlie
- Southbound - continue south and report Point X-RAY to NOLFIB Tower with intentions. Cross Point X-RAY and remain 1/2 mile from the Coronado Cays. All aircraft transiting to NOLFIB or to the west should expect to utilize COMSTA Transition.
- NOTE: Formation flights shall remain in trail until clear of the Coronado Bridge to the south.
Arrival:
- Request Bay Arrival from KNZY tower at Point X-Ray or Point Charlie.
- Remain 1/2 mile from the Coronado Cays.
- Proceed northbound at 500’ AGL and keep to the east side of the Bay.
- Cross the Coronado Bridge slightly right of the highest point at 500’ AGL and fly northwest over the Bay.
- Maintain 500’ AGL abeam USS MIDWAY before descending to the landing environment.
Course Rules: Channel Departure
- Fly southbound over the channel, maintain 400’ AGL
- When clear of Point Loma, westbound traffic is authorized to turn west at pilot’s discretion. All other traffic continue southbound to Point Bravo.
Course Rules: Channel Arrival
