What is petechiae?
Small haemorrhage due to the micro circulation, around 3cm in diameter
What is a heamatoma
Collection of blood under the skin
What is purpura?
Bruising along 3-10cm
What is bruising?
Bleeding under the skin above 10cm

What are you concerned about?
Blood disorder (thrombocytopenia)

Abnormal white blood cells, very high
Very low platelets (thrombocytopenia)
Decreased haemoglobin (anaemia)
Blood film- abnormal WBC
Discuss?
Bone marrow failure
Acute lymphoblastic leaukemia

Abnormal white blood cells, very high
Very low platelets (thrombocytopenia)
Decreased haemoglobin (anaemia)
Blood film- abnormal WBC
Management
Bring her in
Get her a platelet transfusion
Chemotherapy
Antibiotics
On the way in this woman goes suddenly into a coma
Differentials?
Brain bleed
Infection- take more time
Severe anaemia caused passing out- no breathlessness
