Statistical elimination ta hensyn til en tredje variabel som man egentlig ikke måler, men som har innflytelse. På den måten blir den eliminert.

Hva er Adjusted sum of squares (Adj SS) /Type III sum of squares

A

Adjusted sum of squares (Adj SS) = Type III sum of squares does not depend on the order the factors are entered into the model. (i motsetning til sequential sum of squares). Det er mengden variasjon som gjenstår etter at alle andre forklarende faktorer er tatt hensyn til. Dvs at denne blir mindre ved flere forklarende faktorer (må dele på forklaringen i motsetning til Seq SS der første variabel får all oppmerksomhet og andre variabel får restene).

Hva er Sequential sum of squares (Seq SS)/Type I sum of squares

A

Sequential sum of squares (Seq SS) = Type I sum of squares depend on the order the factors are entered into the model. It is the unique portion of SS Regression explained by a factor, given any previously entered factors. The sequential sum of squares is the amount of variation explained by a variable
when the preceding terms in the model have been statistically eliminated.
‘Does this variable have any predictive power when
the other explanatory variables are already known?’
