- could be detrimental on customer satisfaction as it may inconvenience them
- may be challenging to employee to handle learning and working

what is off the job traning
training done outside outside of the working environment or business

- uses specialist teacher/trainers so employee receives expert training
- employee can focus solely on learning - doesn’t have the distraction of working too
- gain a recognised qualification

- expensive - teachers/colleges
* person is no longer in the workplace reducing the organisation productivity
describe the drawbacks/costs of training to an employer
- training costs are high
* working time and output are lost when staff take part in training

what is a work based qualification
enables employees to gain qualifications whilst working. Often through apprenticeship programmes

- study towards a qualification whilst still earning a salary
- gaining practical skills and experience whilst still studying
- good if an individual cannot afford the cost of university
- does not require time away from the work place
what is a VLE
an electronic learning system that stimulates a classroom
may contain support content like lectures, notes, powerpoints
what are 3 advantages of VLE’s to the employer
- less time spent away from work place by employees increases productivity
- travel costs eliminated as employees can access the VLE anywhere providing internet
- Employee does not need to be sent away to colleges - save money on expensive training courses
- development of employee improves chances of career progression which improves motivation and retention
