Dorsal

Difficult or labored breathing.

Fowler’s
Flat and even, level.
Horizontal
Not capable; not legally qualified; deficient.
Incompetent
Body position in which the patient kneels on the exam table with buttocks elevated, back straight, and chest resting on the table.
Knee-Chest
Examination position wherein the patient lies on the back with thighs flexed upon the abdomen and legs flexed upon the thighs.
Lithotomy
Body position that requires the use of a proctologic examination table; Patient kneels on the kneeboard of the table, bends at the hips, and rests the chest on the table with head supported by a headboard.
Proctological
Lying horizontal with the face down.
Prone
Lying down.
Recumbent
Condition in which the pulse becomes weak and rapid, the blood pressure drops, and the patient is pale and clammy.
